The Ann Arbor Temple is an urban temple surrounded by a large garden with a meditation area and large trees. We offer daily meditation practice, weekly courses in meditation and yoga and monthly retreats. Public Services are on Sundays (every Sunday at 10 am; 1st & 3rd Sundays at 4 pm). For children and family, we offer Family Service on the second Sunday of each month and also offer programs for middle schoolers and teens.
Resident priest, Haju Sunim (Linda Lundquist) is a student of Ven. Samu Sunim's since 1976 and was ordained a priest in 1989 and was recipient of his Dharma transmission in 1999. She currently serves as a senior teacher for the Society while residing at the Ann Arbor temple, where you can find her working in the garden, conducting meditation, and guiding the community.
Resident junior priest, Maum (Gloria Cox) grew up in the rolling hills of western Iowa. When her work led her to Michigan, she came to the Zen Buddhist Temple, where her commitment to the Dharma deepened over several years. She was ordained as a lay Dharma Teacher in 2010 and then as Priest in 2016. With a heart of loving kindness and peaceful dedication, Maum teaches meditation classes, leads retreats, and oversees the temple schedule.
