Connecting with people, wherever I go…
On the professional front, 2019 was a year of changes and new horizons. Looking to have a more significant impact on immigrant integration matters (at a time where there have been countless attacks towards immigrant and refugee communities in the United States) I left the NGO world and moved into local government.
It has been a challenging year, but also one during which I was able to join forces and built community with others that are also hopeful for change, in the US and abroad. I closed the year in Mérida, Mexico, with over 300 other responsible leaders, from different sectors and walks of life who are committed to the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals .
