Deborah is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Entrepreneurship & Family Enterprise, Alberta School of Business. She received her doctorate from  Saïd Business School , University of Oxford and  Lincoln College . She was a CCC Visiting Scholar  at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto . Deborah spent the 2018-2019 academic year as a visiting scholar at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania .

She uses qualitative methods (including ethnography, interviews, and historical case studies) to study how experts structure regulatory certainty in times of inflationary crisis as well as the implications of technological change and innovation on knowledge work, organizational learning, professional judgment, and the creation of new routines. Her doctoral work is primarily grounded in the accounting context.
