I recently published two poems in issue 152 of Island magazine. Both are written in the voice of an artist. “Flannel Flowers” responds to a woodcut of the same title by Cressida Campbell, one of my favourite Australian artists, while “The Tomb of the Unknown Artist” was inspired by Grayson Perry’s sculpture, “The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman”, his stunning cast-iron coffin ship that was a memorial to all the unknown craftspeople throughout history who have made beautiful objects that enrich our lives.
