SYNOPSIS In recent years, shocking statistics have been released that veterinarians are over two to three times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. Veterinary technicians also have an alarmingly high rate of suicide.
Animal Calling is a short documentary following a recently-graduated, young veterinarian as she enjoys a rare, relaxing morning in her serene country home. As she reflects on the mental health issues currently impacting the field of veterinary medicine, we're intermittently transported to her place of work and shown the emotional and psychological challenges faced by those working in the veterinary profession.
