Description: Ariane Toussaint is mostly a photographer but she also does other things.
Ariane Toussaint (b. 1996) is an artist based in France and The Netherlands. She works with textual and visual narratives rooted in personal stories. Her artistic practice is an investigation of the links between the word, image and materiality of objects aiming to render the power of fiction of rearranging one’s own narrative.
Ariane Toussaint is currently in residency at Bucharest AiR (RO) until July 3rd 2023. The residency is made possible through the kind support of the Mondriaan Fund Amsterdam (NL).
The work 'The Poetics of Space' comes together through researching childhood and learning processes and in particular in the combination of touching, seeing, and understanding in children's books. By following her explorations in tactility and her love of working with fabrics, Ariane Toussaint creates a gigantic book whose pages are in fact blankets. The book-bed is made of found fabrics that recall quilts and children's book illustrations; it is a sculptural and performative piece that calls for moments of
