The overwhelming impression I get is those on the right have a self-assuredness based on a belief that their politics is time-proven.   So they don’t seem particularly “activist” in asserting it (other than mouthing off about every problem they perceive).

Those on the left on the other hand have a self-assuredness seemingly based on the view that the right represents a systemic injustice.  One you would be blind not to see or some sort of Hollywood villain to support.  So they do seem more vocal in attacking, and more horrified and outright offended by contrary viewpoints.

I’m certainly more circumspect around the lefties I know.  Everyone is miopic to a degree, but its infuriating to be around someone claiming they have the benefit of greater vision than their political opponents.  With a bit of talking down from their high-horse’s we can usually get along in a “we’re all humans and agree on a lot” sort of way.  The rightees are less hard work - covnersations are more like talking to a mate than being in job interview.  Though you have to be ready to hear things you don’t wa
