Reading the Bible in a Progressive Community
On Sunday, February 26, we begin a new six-week class entitled Battered Love: God and the Imagery of Sexual Violence in Scripture. We will read Renita Weems’ book, Battered Love: Marriage, Sex, and Violence in the Hebrew Prophets and imagine ways we can respond creatively through art to counter the negative affects of such imagery. The class will culminate in a weekend art workshop and a final Sunday morning class to process what we have created.
On April 17, 2019 I posted some reflections on the practice of silent reflection during holy week. Now, in 2020, social distancing is hindering our ability to do some of the things we did last year.
