This is the home page of the Boston Malacological Club, also known as the Boston Mal Club. We're a not-for-profit, all-volunteer group, and the second-oldest shell club in the United States. Our charter is to promote the study of land, freshwater, and marine mollusks, related creatures and their environments. The Club participates in basic research (through field trips in Massachusetts and the rest of New England), welcomes guests to its monthly meetings, and sponsors educational programs such as shell show
The Boston Malacological Club promotes responsible shell collecting in accordance with the Conchologists of America's Conservation Resolution .
The Boston Malacological Club welcomes new members from all backgrounds. Our current roster includes professional malacologists, advanced and beginning shell collectors, students in marine biology and ecology, artists who love the form and color of seashells, and more. If you're interested in malacology (the study of living mollusks) or conchology (the study of mollusk shells) then then the Boston Mal Club welcomes you!
