Brass City Charter School Educating Waterbury's Children Click here for updated information on COVID -19. Our Story In the spring of 2013, a group of inspired Waterbury educators and citizens applied to the State of Connecticut for a public charter school that would serve Waterbury’s children in grades pre-K through 8. Their petition was successful, and Brass City Charter School (BCCS) opened its doors to 114 students in grades Pre-K through 1st that fall in the former St. Margaret’s School building.
BCCS provides a free education to Waterbury children in grades Pre-K through 8th. This year we graduate our first 8th grade class. Total enrollment is 360 students.
The school's educational philosophy incorporates a rigorous academic curriculum that includes immersion in character strengths conducive to success.
