For three months, a diverse group of people followed digital workshops about creative technology from home. They worked on technical skills like programming, and even more importantly, they learned to apply these skills to prototype their own creative ideas. Together, we’ve reimagined the way we communicate, our physical spaces and the way in which we have relationships with one another.
Breaking distance is an initiative by Studio Krom . Krom is an experimental design studio that focuses on interactive experiences. By blending digital and physical spaces and by making people part of the experience itself, they aim to create moments that leave a lasting impression. Through experimentation and analysing, we explore concepts in art, design and technology.
The Creative Technology Workshops that led to this exhibition are part of a bigger project called Sparkel2Doen. This is an initiative by Nationale Vereniging ReumaZorg Nederland (RZN) and a project that is part of the national program ‘Maatschappelijke Diensttijd (MDT)’. Sparkel2Doen is about gaining new skills, to be creative and to gain experience in problem-solving. With this new knowledge, participants are challenged to create something that can be experienced by- or be useful for others.
