Laser engraving or Laser Marking as it is sometimes called, is a process that works by focusing a parallel beam of light (Laser = L ight A mplification by S timulated E mission of R adiation) through a lens to a pin-point where the considerable heat generated is capable of vapourising the subject material. Imagine it like taking a magnifying glass out in the sunlight and focusing it to a point to burn a piece of wood.
