By automating the entire food-growing process and controlling each farm remotely, Canopii can remove the unpredictability, inefficiencies, and expertise associated with industrial agriculture. This will allow us to create a reliable and sustainable network of farms in the communities they serve.
The Phase I SBIR (award #2051419) was used to design, build, and demonstrate a subscale vertical farm prototype integrated with cost-effective labor automation and energy management technologies. This effort helps advance the implementation of robotics in food production by addressing the labor and energy barriers that local controlled environment agriculture systems currently face.
