I am also a walking stereotype with glasses, a caffeine addiction and a vast collection of book-themed shoes. I attend more launches and festivals than an aspiring politician and am unabashed about choreographing literary selfies. My picture book collection has its own postcode.
I believe Australian picture books are the best books in the world. I am especially and increasingly passionate about fostering a love of picture books in children and adults, beyond the purely ‘educational’ towards the artistic and deeper semiotic exploration of this incredible art form.
A Grown Up’s Guide To Picture Books is forthcoming with the wonderful team at MidnightSun Publishing. It’s a well-researched but accessible picture-book-for-adults that upskills parents and carers to enjoy deeper reading of picture books with their children – or just for themselves.
