The major theme of this project is to determine an unknown concentration of Ca 2+ in solution. Important concepts to understand going into this are: (1) Significant digits! , (2) glassware reading, (3) mean and standard deviation. Part one: You will standardize a solution of the compound you will use to determine unknown Ca 2+ concentrations via titration (EDTA). All it means to standardize in this context is to make a solution of the compound of interest with known amounts to a high degree of accuracy. Notice that we need to make a known amount before we can determine an unknown amount.
