Il chihuahua può essere definito “Toy” per una semplice ragione: è stato inserito dall’American Kennel Club nel cosiddetto “Toy group”, che raggruppa cani di diversa tipologia ma di piccola taglia: il Toy group comprende cani il cui peso per standard è massimo 5 Kg e la cui altezza raramente raggiunge i 30 cm.
