Chucks' love for boating began in 1977 when he spent the summer living on his father's house boat. At 14 he went to work at Lefty's Coho Landing, Portage Marina, pumping gas, building docks, doing oil changes and tune ups. Still as a young man, he worked for Jim Lincoln at Qwik-Step Marine, also in Portage IN. There he learned mechanical maintenance.
