CoEC partners are highly regarded for their work in developing CFD codes in the field of turbulent multiphase reacting flows. The project is a joint effort to leverage their knowledge in order to revise the state-of-the-art in combustion simulation methodologies seeking for more advanced approaches enabled by Exascale computing.
CoEC has the know-how in HPC software engineering that will result in Exa-enabling combustion simulation codes, which require the design and efficient implementation of new algorithms and data processing and analysis tools. The project targets Exascale combustion simulation workflows for co-design activities since combustion is an Exascale problem and meaningful benchmarks can be naturally generated. FocusCoE contributes to the success of the European high-performance computing “ecosystem”. They support the Centers of Excellence in high-performance computing to more effectively fulfil their role, which is to ensure that extreme scale applications result in tangible benefits for addressing scientific, industrial or societal challenges.
