Do you know Marsha Mehran , or have you heard about her? She was the international best-selling author of Pomegranate Soup. After writing two successful novels, she became mentally sick and gripped with a severe case of writer’s block. She couldn’t finish her third book in eight years and died in 2014 in sickness, poverty, and loneliness.
I wrote a novel, Alley of Scented Roses, to honour her life, giving her the ending I wish she’d had. I dreamed up a plot: what if she had somehow resolved her writer’s block and was still alive, happily writing?
