The University of Toledo Department of History is pleased to sponsor the Charles DeBenedetti Peace Conference, on Friday, October 28, 2011, at Libbey Hall on the main campus. The conference is open and free to the public.
Six panels, with more than a dozen speakers, are scheduled throughout the day, covering a wide range of topics that expose the deep roots of violence in American society and explore the alternative path of a "culture of peace."
The conference is named in honor of Prof. Charles DeBenedetti, a member of the UT Department of History faculty from 1968 until his sudden death at the age of 44 in 1987. DeBenedetti was a tireless advocate of peace in his professional as well as personal life. "Creating a Culture a Peace" honors and invigorates his legacy.
