"Why do I enjoy Cycle 4CMT so much? I have CMT1X and the CMTA has my back, really that simple. I think of this as a way to give back to them knowing their efforts are in my best interest and the interests of others with CMT. My family and friends gather the night(s) before the ride for food and conversation. It’s a great way for me to talk about my CMT, which I don’t often discuss, a brief period to let everyone know what’s going on. The day of the ride is a fun-filled gathering that I think of as a family
My 11-year-old son and I both have CMT Type 1A. We ride to support critical research for possible treatments, to promote awareness of this hereditary neuropathy, and to aid the CMTA in providing opportunities for community for CMT kids across the country. We ride because it feels good and hopeful to actively do something about a disease that has no cure and that dictates so much of our lives; and, because we are still physically able to ride at this point…and that’s worth celebrating!” —Garrett Guidroz
