One fan's amazing experience with this icon piece of music history
I noticed this guitar first when I saw the live pro-shot MTV Italy video from the Milan City Square. Filmed on October 11th, 1990, this video would turn out to be one of the few pro-shot videos from the apex of Jane’s Addiction’s Ritual de lo Habitual era.
The guitar, I would later come to find out, was only just a bit over two months old at the time of the Milan filming. The sparkling gold beauty, finished on July 25th 1990, had been handcrafted for Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro in LA at the now-legendary Ibanez Custom Shop by master luthier Mike Lipe. Mike was known as LA’s original “Guitar Doctor” and his business was acquired by Ibanez in 1989. At Ibanez, Lipe crafted a number of amazing axes for some of most iconic guitarists of the late ’80s
