Scarborough was once a suburb of Old Toronto. In 1983, however, it was one of the regions that amalgamated to form the new, present-day city of Toronto. It is located east of Toronto’s downtown core, wedged between the inner-city and Oshawa— another well-known Ontario city.

Scarborough is often overlooked by newcomers to the Toronto area. Many arrive looking for the quintessential Toronto experience— a view of the CN tower, a Victorian brownstone in the heart of Cabbagetown, or walking just blocks to a Farmer’s Market from a loft in the Distillery District. But what Scarborough lacks in regular transit routes, historic townhouses, and quick walks to work, it makes up for with more spacious homes, more affordable real estate prices, and a slightly slower pace of life.
