Elle Foley finds her greatest inspiration in the effects of light on the land, sea and sky that surround her. The clarity of light and its play on the rolling moors of Nantucket, the trees in Central Park, the streets of London/Paris/NYC and the softly muted tones of light and color of the Tuscan countryside are some of her favorite subjects to paint.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, Foley started taking art classes at the Norwich Free Academy when she was in grade school. After NFA she attended the Maryland Institute, College of Art where she earned a degree in Fine Arts and the Boston Architectural Center for a degree in Architecture. She worked as an architect in New York City at the prestigious New York City firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
