Graphic Facilitation and Graphic Recording are different however, they can also be complementary, and they can be used independently or blended together. The diagram below ( a work in progress ) aims to illustrate some of the potentials that can exist between the two.
When Graphic Facilitating we are in a facilitator role, we think through the purpose and process you are needing to be led and create a visual way to facilitate people to hold their conversations and thinking.
When Graphic Recording our focus is on deeply listening to the content of a meeting or event and creating a visual record of what is happening, live, as it is happening. Graphic Recording is also known by a host of other names or terms, such as; Live Event Illustration, Graphic Reporting, Live Scribing, Conference Illustration, Event Capture, Visual Minutes, and Visual Maps, and the list is continuing to grow.
