Helping People Occupy Their Time
This post is inspired by a friend’s mother was recently suffered a stroke. She was a relatively independent woman living alone in a 1000-square-foot Manhattan apartment with views of Central Park. Following her initial hospital admission, she spent 14 days in Inpatient Acute Rehab. As she transitioned to the next stage of rehabilitation, she asked for advice about the next steps. Her mom’s medical team was recommending discharge to Sub Acute Rehab (SAR) and she wanted to find a good facility.
Here is my advice, breaking down the ABC’s of the early rehabilitation stages and questions to ask from a former Occupational Therapist’s perspective. I hope you find this helpful.
