 The project  started in 2010 at  Germany’s first FabLab in Aachen . The project is based on a combination of open source software and open hardware. The goal of the project is to make 3D-Scanning as affordable and simple as possible . FabScan is a non-profit community driven project.

The software generates a Point Cloud with a couple of millions of points.

A colored Point Cloud is provided by capturing the object color for each scanned point.
