This has been humanity’s goal since the beginning as in G enesis 3:5 “ For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. ”(NIV). But, God knows better on how to be like him; not on our own by just eating the “fruit” as tempted by Satan.
Subsequently, humanity built the Tower of Babel “ to reach the heavens ” as in Genesis 11:4 “ Then,they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” (NIV). But, God did not like that, so their languages were confounded.
And, many attempts to be a ruler/sovereignty as in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of successive kingdoms in Daniel 2 ; all failed as God already planned to have his way, the “ stone ” will expand to rule all earth.
