The Book of Ruth, although short in nature, gives us a glimpse into the lives of the members of an Israelite family; namely, the great-grandmother of David and an ancestress of Jesus. Redemption is a key theme throughout the book. In various forms, the Hebrew word is mentioned approximately 23 times giving us a glance at God’s redemptive work.
