I have never bought that minority report or bladerunner cliche vision of the future. The reason why we’ll never end up like that is because it’s not social and we’re inherently social people.
No, the true VR future at mass scale will be these video game worlds where people are already spending hours each day interacting with each other. It makes perfect sense, since we can’t actually go out anyway, why not just stay in your fun world and take a break from wasting some alien creatures and go see a Travis Scott show or go to a rager? This is the first brand work I’ve seen that’s not only humorous but also basically acknowledging a new normal and behavior vs. saying we’re going through a tough time (like quite literally the copy goes “In these challenging times, buy this product”). Does this signify a broader culture shift from phase 1 freakout to phase 2 acceptance and new normal? We’ll be on the lookout.
