François Thirault was born in a musician family and started at an early age to learn music with the violin. But, a few months later, he changed his mind and decided to « do like Daddy », to play the cello.
Later on, François graduated from the CNSMD of Lyon in the class of Yvan Chiffoleau, before moving to Berlin with Konstantin Heidrich at the Universität der Künste, and Martin Löhr in the Karajan Academy. Participating in master-classes around the world, he was likewise influenced by artists such as Franz Helmerson, Jerôme Pernoo, Ralph Kirshbaum, Lawrence Power, Torleif Thedéen, Eberhard Feltz, the Artemis Quartet… He was laureate of the Mécénat Musicale Société Générale, the ADAMI, first prize of the Yama
As a soloist, François Thirault performed in major concert venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, or the Konzerthaus Berlin. He was invited to play in numerous festivals including the Unione Musicale Torino, the Verbier Festival and Academy, Krzyżowa-Music Festival, the Encuentro Santander, the Alpenarte Festival, the Flaneries musicales of Reims…
