The Gender Equality Initiative works to contribute to the adoption of the Gender Equality Act that aims to abolish discriminatory laws and policies and fulfil the human rights commitments against women, young people, and non-binary persons against discrimination and violence in Malaysia.
Malaysia has demonstrated commitment to advancing gender equality through various initiatives. The country has made strides in promoting equal access to education for both genders, resulting in a high literacy rate among men and women. Efforts have also been made to increase women’s participation in the workforce, although challenges persist, especially in achieving gender balance in leadership roles and certain industries.
