The Bible is one book, but it contains two major divisions. The first major division of the Bible is called the Old Testament. It is a collection of 39 books that equals approximately 75% of the entire volume of the Bible. It was written before the time of Jesus the Messiah's birth. These books contain over 400 prophecies that foretold of the Messiah's birth, life, death and resurrection.
The second major division of the Bible is called the New Testament. It is contains the rest of 25% of the Bible. This collection of 27 books was written during the first century after Jesus death, burial and resurrection.
The Key Verse of Scripture in the Bible is John 3:16 which reads: " For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. "
