Geoffrey Abbott was born in London. He studied music at Birmingham University and trained as a teacher the University of London. He worked for several years as a repetiteur and conductor in London before moving to Germany. After working as ballet-repetiteur in Giessen he moved to Augsburg as musical director for the spoken theatre.
