GLIMS (Global Land Ice Measurements from Space) is an initiative designed to monitor the world's glaciers primarily using data from the ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and reflection Radiometer) instrument aboard the EOS Terra spacecraft, launched in December, 1999.
