Glue Gun is an American punk rock band formed in 1991 and fronted by Bob Oedy of The Grim . It started when Oedy responded to an invitation to jam with friends Jeff Roberts (guitar), Peter Newbury (bass) and Mike Winstock (drums) in Winstock’s parent’s garage in West Hills, California. Roberts and Newbury had previously traveled the U.S. with The Grim on their “Brave the Cold” Winter Tour in 1985-1986 with NOFX , and Scared Straight.
Glue Gun cut their teeth playing local bars and clubs throughout southern California. From their very first show they worked hard to separate themselves from other local groups by including theatrical stage presentations including props. lights, pyrotechnics, sound effects, weapons, stage blood, sledgehammers, animal heads, televisions, and more. Performing on stage with Glue Gun in those early days was dangerous. Band members had to deal with a .38 caliber blank gun being fired off, 8 lbs. sledge hammer and real knife (on one occasion) being wielded on stage, glass from television sets and bootlegged pyrotechnics literally being controlled by a self-proclaimed convicted arsonist (roadie).
