Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. was founded by 12 ‘nontraditional’ undergraduate students on September 19, 1963, on the campus of Morgan State College in Baltimore, Maryland. The fraternity’s founders were older students, some married and military veterans, who wanted to create a more mature representation of fraternity life.
