Jesus of Nazareth was active in politics . He consistently rebuked the powerful and wealthy for their mistreatment of the poor, sick, hungry and oppressed. Indeed when Jesus began his ministry the first thing he did was proclaim "good news to the poor". In today's terms, if we are honest and reasonable, we have to say Jesus would be considered a liberal politically.
