The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan is a centrally sponsored scheme with significant conttribution from Tamil Nadu State Government. The need of large scale vocational training programmes has been identified and initiated through the State Higher Education Departments. RUSA ( Rashtriya Uchchatar Shikshya Abhiyan ) a Scheme to skill the final year graduating students of Higher Education in Vocational Training with the objective of getting all graduating students ready for employment.
In the State of Tamil Nadu in Heatlhcare sector the Higher Education Department is implementing the Vocational Training with the help of Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Center for Health. Healthcare Training programs are conducted in 39 different colleges in Tamil Nadu across 18 different districts. Training is being imparted to 5000 students along the length and breadth of the State.
The TN Apex Skill Development Centre for Healthcare is a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), a non-profit public limited Tamil Nadu state government entity and Kauvery Hospital to impart high-end skills training in healthcare sector, to provide high technology demand driven skill development courses, in order to develop a pool of highly skilled healthcare work force.
