Description: Hospice Palliative Care Ontario is a provincial association for hospices and palliative care providers, professionals, and volunteers throughout Ontario. We envision a future where every person and family in the province of Ontario can quickly and easily access the finest standard of hospice palliative care when required.
Hospice Palliative Care Ontario represents members whose work takes place on traditional Indigenous territories across the province we now call Ontario. We would like to acknowledge that Toronto, where our offices are located, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the ancestral and traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat Peoples.
Toronto is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We believe that acknowledging the land is an important way to recognize, respect, and honour this territory and the treaties in gratitude to those who reside here, and to honour the Indigenous people who have lived and worked this land since time immemorial.
As part of our commitment to reconciliation we are providing educational opportunities to help our staff learn more about our shared history and the harms that have been inflicted on Indigenous peoples. We have established an Indigenous Healthcare Worker Bursary program and we advocate for support of equitable access to hospice palliative care for Indigenous peoples.
