With spring in full force and everyone working on their landscaping and gardens, I thought it would be a good time to address some potential problems.
When a home is originally built, the builder decides on the grades (levels and slope) of the yard. This determines the height to which the waterproofing on the foundation will be installed.
Ideally, the yard will slope away from the house and drain to the front and/or back of the lot with depressions between the houses that also drain to either end of the property. In a new subdivision the ground cover of choice is grass because it is the most inexpensive.
