Welcome to JABA Architect, conservation consultants providing services to Historic England, building preservation and civic trusts, church groups, local authorities and private owners. Established in 1991 we repair and care for some of the country’s most significant buildings including mediaeval churches and tower houses, Georgian buildings by Robert Adam, Wood, and Smirke, Victorian buildings by Gilbert-Scott, and Butterfield, and early twentieth century buildings by Edwin Prior and Austen & Paley.
The Practice is lead by John Barnes, an architect accredited in building conservation who is on the register of approved consultants to oversee conservation projects funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. A member of the RIBA, EASA and IHBC, he is also a fieldworker for the Ancient Monuments Society, representing them on an advisory panel assessing listed building applications for Newcastle City Council.
