It all started when Jack had a groove and House Music was born. Hearing House Music on boom boxes in the neighborhood and on the radio inspired Jackin' Jamie to become a DJ. These same radio stations were way ahead of their time broadcasting music that was so underground that it was only heard in the streets or in clubs. Like a ritual, every weekend was spent recording mixes off the radio and going to the record store to get those records that were hard to describe if there weren't any other vocals or sampl
Starting off mixing with a double cassette boom box and a Technics 1200, Jackin' Jamie began doing his own mixes and re-edits. It was in high school that Jackin' Jamie met his fellow DJ peers that would expose him to the whole DJ scene from dances to DJ battles. After high school, Jackin' Jamie was invited to join a DJ team that spun at various parties and venues on the north side of Chicago.
From those many years of doing mobile gigs and making mix tapes, it was here that Jackin' Jamie developed his craft and style of mixing. In 1995, a close friend and DJ peer from his high school days was starting to spin on a weekly mix show called "Masters In The Mix" which was aired on WCRX 88.1 FM. Jackin' Jamie was asked to submit guest mixes for the show. After that first night, Jackin' Jamie was asked to become a resident DJ for the show.
