Kristen and Nicholas met on August 19th, 2016 at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church, thanks to the Bluegrass Fellows Program and Foundations Membership Class Weekend. On Friday night, as Kristen was setting up for the weekend, she received a text "Hey! This is Nicholas Jackson, one of the Fellows. I am volunteering with Foundations Weekend. I just walked into the church, where should I go?" Kristen walked through the lobby, and met Nicholas; little did she know she was shaking hands with her future husband. As
Through mutual friends and the Fellows Program, Nicholas and Kristen began to hang out more and more, and their friendship continued to bloom. In the Fall, they were (by the providence of the good Lord) placed on the same volleyball team in a league at the church. Every Sunday, their team would play a game; Nicholas and Kristen naturally began to warm up together before each game. As they became better friends, Kristen noticed that Nicholas was taking particular interest in her. She told her friends, wrote in her journal, and wondered when he was going to ask her out! Nicholas sought counsel from his friends and mentors about whether or not he should ask her out, and they all gave him an overwhelming yes!
