In 2018, I was appointed as the Quello Chair in Media and Information Policy and the Director of the James H. and Mary B Quello Center at Michigan State University . From January 2013 until June 2019, I served as the Chairperson of the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. My team’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Knight Foundation, the Ford Foundation, Facebook and other private and public organizations.
In addition to my academic roles, I serve on the International Scientific Advisory Board of LIRNE asia , as an consulting editor of the interdisciplinary journal Telecommunications Policy , and on the editorial boards of several other international peer-reviewed journals. I thrive when collaborating with practitioners in public and private sector organizations to help realize the full potential of emerging technologies, such as broadband connectivity, fifth generation (5G) wireless, and Internet of Thing
The Handbook on the Economics of the Internet, co-edited with my colleague Michael Latzer at the University of Zurich, was published by Edward Elgar in May 2016. Recent research articles on AI governance , on the Internet and income inequality , and on the link between network neutrality and innovation were published in Telecommunications Policy. Empirical work on ride-hailing contracts was published in the Journal of Management Information Systems. Earlier work is published in IEEE Security & Privacy,
