Karolina Sobel is a visual artist, specializes in artistic photography with focus on peripheral identities.
Her artistic research involves themes and realities exploring social issues such as identity, community building, social exclusion and migration. Through her photographs, videos, research sources, found images, interventions, and installations, she aims to challenge modes of representation and engage in critical discourse. Sobel employs a documentary approach that blurs the line between fiction and reality, utilizing different media to expand the narrative possibilities of her work. While photography is an
Sobel graduated from the University of Design in Karlsruhe in 2019. She holds a Master‘s degree in Urban Studies (TU Darmstadt), studied Social Sciences at EHESS in Paris and Visual Arts at IUAV in Venice. She is recipient of Baden Württemberg scholarship, Cite des Arts Paris, Unesco Media Award. She is co-founder of Embrace Platform and participant of Archive of Public Protests. She lives and works between Karlsruhe and Leipzig (Germany).
