I find myself continually attempting to accurately capture a place through abstracting it. The trouble is my perspective changes over time as much, if not more, than the landscapes I am trying to capture. I find joy and hope to live in this tension. Joy, because when I see something beautiful, it shifts my stance to be open to peace and connecting with others. Hope, because it reminds me that we all have the ability to reimagine our world.
My landscapes embody the joy and hope I see in these places. My work brings attention to the present battle to protect and preserve our natural treasures. I think the first step in protecting these natural treasures is to build a relationship with them by slowing down and looking at them more closely.
