Kids Making a Difference is a non-profit organization formed by a group of youth volunteer animal enthusiasts, dedicated to the advancement of animal welfare. Its mission, in partnership with committed adult volunteers, is to cultivate involved youth to their full potential, developing qualities of leadership, values, and social and environmental conscience while advancing animal welfare.
Kids Making a Difference started in June 2000 as a grass-roots effort by then 8-year-old Stephanie. Reading a newspaper article about an injured baby manatee, she decided that she wanted to do something, and something she did! She began making manatee pins and selling them to family and friends to raise money and public awareness of these gentle giants. As kids heard of her efforts, they too became interested and wanted to become involved. Kids Making a Difference was formed.
