Description: The League of Women Voters of Appleton is a nonpartisan organization that advocates for informed and active participation in government.
Saturday, August 26 is national Women's Equality Day. What better time to announce that five women-serving organizations — including the League — will be launching the Women's Action Coalition that day to keep women's issues, especially equality, on the community's top of mind.
The League and its partners first came together to celebrate the centennial of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in 2020, and the new coalition will build on that momentum to empower today's women and lift up efforts to ensure women's rights.
You can join the unique launch of the Coalition and be part of an oral history and visual project capturing a snapshot of what it means to be a woman in the Fox Cities today. Learn which organizations comprise the Coalition, and the fun that's planned for Women's Equality Day during Appleton's Farmers Market in Houdini Plaza on August 26.
