Marion’s creative process is a mixture of intentional and spontaneous mark making with bold shapes and colours producing intriguing abstracts when viewed from afar, and with lots of eye entertainment on closer inspection. Her goal is to excite the viewer both from afar and close-up.
“I use colour as a tool to communicate my experiences and feelings. Colour plays an essential role in my practices – it determines the feeling of my work. I usually don’t have a preconceived idea when I begin and start by adding several layers of thick, colourful paint. As I go, I add texture by scraping, gouging and sanding back to reveal previous layers and colours. The painting gradually comes alive and has a life of it's own.
